Margaret Reeve, formally Miss D. M. Clarke, played an important role in the history of Wymondham. Most notably, she became the first female head teacher at Wymondham High Academy, which was called Wymondham Secondary Modern School at the time.
Mrs Reeve regularly worshipped at the Abbey and spent her life supporting the community by working with the Town Council, Arthritis Care and the Life Boat Guild. She also spent time as the Chairperson of MIND, the charity that established the local Day Care Centre in Wymondham which supported elderly residents and carers by providing them with care and respite.
The Margaret Reeve Foundation was set up in her name and aims to help children and young people in the Wymondham High School area by providing them with books and grants.
The Wymondham High School FemSoc have chosen to celebrate Margaret Reeve because she is an inspiration.
Initially, Margaret Reeve was just the name of a road but as we dug deeper, we discovered the amazing things she did and how important she was for the town of Wymondham; her connection to our school is especially important to us.
She played a big part in the local community and cared deeply about helping others. Therefore, we are excited to celebrate her life and achievements.
